so... yesterday at work was really busy... well... it wasn't really busy, it was just moderately busy...
and it ended up going late into the night because one surgeon had a lot of really big cases... and i was on call from 11pm-7am last night and i figured i was gonna get called back in... so i would have just stayed because the hospital is like 20 miles from where i live and it would have made sense to stay there and sit around the lounge and whatever and just take a break because it would have saved money on gas... but robert and galen are out of town so i had to run home to let the little dogs out because they had already been stuck in the crate from 9am... so i leave work, it's like quarter to nine and i'm driving north on I-95 and talking to my friend leah on the phone when all of a sudden, the car is making this really loud, horrendous noise, and i'm like, "what is that?!" so i pull over and stop and i rev the engine and it sounds fine... then i get out of the car and start looking at it... and i'm looking at it and looking at it and i can't see anything wrong... so i get back in and try to drive again and i can hear there is obviously something wrong and it kind of sounds like a flat tire... so i get out again and go look at my tires and sure enough, the right back tire is flat...now i thought when your tire blows out at 60mph you would be able to tell, but the care never wavered at all... anyway... now i'm on the side of the road and i'm still talking to leah and i'm in the trunk getting the spare and the crappy little jack and it's dark and it takes me forever to change a tire... well florida has the 'road rangers' who help distressed motor vehicles (and their drivers)... leah calls them for me and as i was going to get back in the car and wait, i notice some random guy pulled over in front of me... he comes back and sees my flat and immediately starts to change it for me... doesn't really say anything at all and i'm thinking he's a good samaritan and thanking God for his arrival, while giving leah his license plate number in case he decides to murder me... then a guy in a tow truck comes along and offers to tow my car to his shop for tire repair and i'm like, "no thank you, i'm on call and don't have time." so the other dude gets the tire changed in a jiffy and i shake his hand and say thanks and i'm walking around and getting in the car as he's saying he'd like a contribution? so i open my wallet and say "how's a ten?" and he's like " another ten would be good."! and i tell him ten is all i have and thank him again and close my window!!! since when do good samaritans charge money?! i still can't believe it... if you are going to pull over to "help" people, at least have the decency to tell them up front you are going to charge them for your time! i don't always even have money on me... i swear this world we live in is seriously evil and we should be very afraid because the end really is near and we all better repent before it's too late! so now i'm off to buy a new tire 0:-)
