the children flew to Pa yesterday and now i'm here all by myself... well there are the 2 little dogs and the hamster... but it's just not the same... galen discovered the hamster has a ginormous tumor on her neck... if we were to put it in people perspective, that thing would be the size of a beach ball! i've never seen anything like it in all the years of hamster ownership... she's 2 years old so i don't think she be in the world much longer anyway... how does one euthanize a hamster?
in other news we had a near miss at work the other day... unfortunately for me, i was involved... fortunately the patient was not affected... i can't post the details on the internet, but let me just give you a piece of advice... if you need to have surgery on one of your limbs, please stand up for yourself and pay close attention to what everybody in the OR is doing for you... remember we are just humans and we can make mistakes... they are unintentional and not maliscious, but stuff happens... it is a very stressful environment and people are always trying to rush things along to please everybody, including the patients who get upset when they sit around and wait for long periods of time... there is a reason we ask you the same things over and over and over... remember to say a prayer for me and my co-workers to do the very best we can for you and all the other patients we take care of... i pray this works out for me and i don't get in trouble because i have recently re-discovered the joy i get from being a nurse...
