chicago part one

woke up at 0344, i wake up almost every night at this time... fell asleep until 0500... had crazy amazing race dreams that involved this trip... everyone is getting along great so far... we're heading out soon to serve coffee to the folks who are pushed out of the shelters in the morning... every morning they have to leave and every evening they have to line up to get back in...

i'm in the book of Mark... how sad and awful the disciples must have felt the day after Jesus was crucified and how overjoyed the day they realized He was risen!

street evangelism was awesome! we served coffee and donuts to several people, prayed with at least 5 and one man gave his life to Christ! this is why we are here...

Pacific Garden Mission is the oldest mission in the US - 130 years old and serves over a thousand men, women and children a day... the main mission houses up to a thousand men every night... they come in and get a shower and have their clothes washed and get a clean nightshirt to sleep in... the dorms have bunk beds, top for those under 45 and bottom for those over 45... the mission was started by a tiny little woman who had a heart for the poor... they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday... on the day we were there, i cut bologna on the meat cutting machine... now i could work at the deli at publix =]...
