Dear Friends,

I am so thrilled to tell you that I have been accepted to join a missions team going to Chicago. Every year, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale sends a team to work with the poor of Chicago. We will live in the inner-city and work with ministries like Pacific Garden Mission, Jesus People USA, Cornerstone Community Outreach, Salvation Army, and others as we serve, learn, and share each day.

This opportunity has come to me through my service to the Lord at “the Refuge”, the church for the homeless and the poor in Broward County, Florida. This church is sponsored by Calvary Chapel Ft Lauderdale and I have been serving the Lord there with my brothers and sisters since November of 2006.

When I gave my life to Jesus Christ in November of 2005, He changed my heart so utterly and dramatically for the better. He renewed my love and mercy for those who are broken in body, soul and spirit and placed a homeless girl in my path who needed Him desperately. I am just so grateful for His salvation, I am willing to do anything He asks me to do. And He placed a burden in my heart to love this girl. We struck up a friendship and through prayer and perseverence and the Lord’s help, I helped this girl go home to her family. I have had this desire in my heart to help the homeless and the poor ever since then and have been blessed to serve at “the Refuge”. I find joy in serving the Lord and His children.

1 John 3:16-19
16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know[a] that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
