the sunrise was beautiful... as i approached the pedestrian causeway, there was an old man sitting on the park bench wearing an orange rain poncho... i said good morning to him and made my way up the causeway to the beach... i noticed another bench on the left with a small bag of items and cardboard spread out on it and i knew it was this man's belongings... another homeless soul... i went out onto the beach and watched the sunrise and prayed and marveled at God's glorious creation and thanked Him for waking me up, for giving me another chance to do this thing called life the right way... then i took from my bag a Gospel of John (i keep them there for opportunities to share) and wrote a small message to the old man, gave him a number he can call for help, signed it, added a couple of dollars and headed back the way i came... i found him there, sleeping on his "bed" and i carefully and quietly approached, so i wouldn't wake him, and tucked the tiny gift into his shoe for him to find when he wakes up... and walked away... and thanked God again for waking me up today...
