since i got saved, my need to spread the gospel has grown bigger and bigger everyday... most people seem to receive the gospel if not in a positive way, at least in a respectful way... but every now and then, i run into a hardcore atheist who will counter every single positive thing about Christ with some excuse as to how He is bogus... for example, in a recent email exchange, he said this:

"the cathars believed the old testament god was the evil brother (satan) and jesus was the good. hence the division between the old and new testaments. the old having god smiteing and burning everything that pissed him off, often times for no good reason, and the new brings out jesus, and a lot more kindness to the world. the cathars were the biggest threat to the newly formed catholic church, almost wiping it out in the 11th century, until those nice loving christians retaliated with force, and began the crusades. "

and this:

"now go look at the ancient mayan texts, and the incas, and the toltecs, oh wait. you can't. christians burned almost all of them, because in their love for god, they found it necessary to wipe out most of the world's history. "

and i am tired of hearing people say they are turned off about Christ by these mean and stupid Christians because we are all just so mean and we like to start wars and so on and so on...

now i'm not going to argue about the fact Christians do many things wrong, because we do... we are human and we are flawed beyond recognition... which is why we need a Savior... the Bible says Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life... it does not say michelle is the way, the truth and the life... although i am fun and cute and weird ;o)...

what is my point? don't use Christians as your excuse or reason for not wanting to believe in God or what Christ did for all of us... you aren't supposed to follow Christians, you are supposed to follow Jesus Christ... and by using the excuse that you can't follow Him because i might be an idiot and overbearing and mean, you are only spiting yourself and in the end you will pay the biggest and worst price for it...

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

don't let eternal life slip away from you just because Christians are as flawed as everybody else in the world...
