saturday

Back in January, after work, I went and got my mail and when I opened it up, discovered my monthly car insurance bill pretty much tripled and my hospital bill arrived and I owe them $800 dollars, which isn’t completely awful considering the entire bill was for more than $12,000. I also noticed that my little dog pablo was feeling sick. I became overwhelmed and started to cry because I just don’t have money laying around and I really didn’t know what I was going to do. So I cried out to God for help. I asked Him to help me find the money I needed to pay these new bills and I asked Him to make pablo better. This occurred on a monday.

The day before this happened, I was at the refuge and I noticed one of my friends there had his jaw wired shut. He had been beaten up by a group of teenage boys who think it’s fun to attack homeless people. One of them hit him in the mouth with brass knuckles! This guy is already quite skinny so I told him I would bring him food he could eat, like ensure and pudding and applesauce. I found out where he “lives” and told him I would bring the supplies by on wednesday after church.

Back to my other story of money trouble. Tuesday I went to Publix to pick up the supplies I promised to bring my friend. I forgot about the fact I owed money to lots of people. Pablo was still acting sick and I was still worried about finding money to take him to the vet. I prayed to God again and asked Him to make pablo better and to help me find money to pay the new bills I had gotten. Wednesday, after work, I noticed pablo was better and then I was flipping through the channels and came upon a commercial for a company that can help get back child support. It reminded me that my ex still owed me a ton of back child support. I had taken him to court years ago and won and they always garnished his wages when he had a job. Well, that money was put into a mastercard account, but I forgot about it for the last year and a half because my ex didn’t have a job the last time I checked, so there was no money coming in. When I saw this commercial, I remembered the card and pulled it out and called the number to check the balance, fully expecting there to be no money in the account because my ex is that unreliable. I nearly choked when the balance came up as being $1800! I immediately fell on my knees to thank and praise God! He helped me remember that card and find money and He made my dog better!

I went to church that night in a fantastic, joyful, thankful mood! I was just so amazed at how good God was to me that day! After church, I drove to where my friend lives and I dropped off the supplies I promised him. He expressed his thanks to me and I told him I was happy I could do it for him and went on my way. The next day, I was reading from the book of Proverbs and came across this verse: Proverbs 19:17 17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given. Not only did God answer my prayer that week, He told me why He answered it!

Our God is an awesome God! He is alive and real and knowing what I know about how He kept reaching out to me, even when I didn’t believe in Him, makes me want to shout from the rooftop to people everywhere, our God reigns! Forever! Just look for Him with all your heart, mind, body and soul. He wants you back. God says: Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.
