things to be thankful for

it's kinda chilly here this morning, makes me think i should knit myself a new long sleeved shrug and put some proper shoes on my feet... guess i've grown adjusted to the climate
i did the saddest case the other day... guy is a truck driver and was up in tennessee picking up a brand new one with his driving buddy (one guy drives 10 hours and then they switch)... when they got it on the road and he was turning, the steering wheel malfunctioned and locked up and they crashed into an abuttment or something and the truck burst into flames... dude couldn't get his seatbelt undone and he couldn't wake up his buddy and when he finally got it off he slipped out of the cab through a hole in the floor, cutting his finger, and ran around to the passenger door to try to save his friend and then realized the keys were still in the ignition and the doors were locked... he tried to save his friend until someone finally pulled him away from the truck... he ended up with 3rd degree burns on his left arm and workman's comp sent him back to miami (where he is from) on a BUS! the evil in this world just astounds me... pray for him, for his peace of mind because his physical wounds will heal, the emotional wounds are obviously a lot more tricky...

so this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for:

- rediscovering God and Jesus Christ
- my rotten kids
- my little dogs
- my whole family, both in real life and on here
- having a job and a roof over my head and food to eat and electricity
- living to see another day

started knitting a new shrug... this one will have long sleeves... i don't want to go to work... i really want to go to key west... i haven't been there yet and this is the best time of the year to go... i just need to get in the car and drive south... it's not that far from here, but it takes awhile to get there because there is just one road and the cops are very strict about monitoring the speed limit... i should just do it... sigh... i have to go to work...

key west = i just wasn't impressed... it was pretty and cozy, but it was overpriced ($4/hour to park) and it's a place to just get drunk at bars and the museums were overpriced and... it was nice, just not SOOO nice that i'd want to spend all my money there... food was expensive as well... and overcrowded... and it takes forever to get there by car (3 hours down, 4 hours back)... but we had a nice day all in all
